Junior Database Administrator (Entry Level):


Skills:
Working knowledge in all of the following:
  • SQL
  • PL/SQL
  • Oracle 9i and/or 10G
  • General programming principles (C and C++ a plus)
  • Linux
  • Flowcharting and ERDs
  • SDLC
  • Enterprise Manager client and/or web based 10g Database Manager

Other desirable skills:
  • MySql
  • SQL*Loader
  • JDeveloper, Oracle Java Packages
  • Oracle Performance tuning using ADDM, statspak
  • Knowledge of the Oracle CBO and interpereting query plans
  • Understanding of web services (SOAP, WSDL's)
  • Oracle XML
  • Object Oriented Programming principals
  • Experience with administration/development tools such as PL/SQL Dev or TOAD
  • RMAN backup and recovery
  • Cron jobs and SQL scripting
  • Oracle Lite 9i, Oracle Database Lite 10g

Some tasks involved will be:
  • Capacity planning and pro-active monitoring of multiple databases
  • Database design and modeling
  • Performance tuning existing structures
  • Backup and recovery planning and testing
  • Data Migration and Archival
  • Integration of business rules into database design and PL/SQL logic
  • Documentation of existing structures and code
  • On going development/maintenance of existing in house client applications
